Hands On Merry Oaks at the Greenway

Weed warriors cleared invasive species at the greenway early on Oct. 28. Heather Dove organized the event, and county workers helped lend expertise and even muscles. Steve Pace gave participants a lesson in invasives.

Public art on Central Avenue

This is public art destined to go in at the Central Avenue bridge over Briar Creek, near Dim Sum restaurant. Details, from the Merry Oaks neighborhood newsletter:
"The Charlotte Public Art Commission has approved an art installation for the bridge over Briar Creek at Central Avenue. The City chose the artist, Jim Gallucci of Greensboro. ... The installation will be a galvanized steel and green screen depicting river grasses, and will run the length of the bridge on both sides along the handrail. ... Installation should be during March of 2007."
