Hands On Merry Oaks at the Greenway

Weed warriors cleared invasive species at the greenway early on Oct. 28. Heather Dove organized the event, and county workers helped lend expertise and even muscles. Steve Pace gave participants a lesson in invasives.
Pictured are Andria Krewson, Nancy Pierce Shaver, an expert from the county, Heather Dove and Pam Stenhouse. Nancy Krewson also came and clipped ivy later. Photo credit goes to Nancy Pierce Shaver's camera and Steve Pace's photo shooting.

Photo credit goes to Nancy Pierce Shaver's camera, and to Steve Pace of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Stormwater Services. Mr. Pace also gave participants a quick lesson in what species are invasive. Did you know nandina, the pretty plant with red holiday-like berries, is considered an invasive?
